Sowing continues, farmers already sown 2 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops

As of April 25, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine have sown 2 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that buckwheat has begun to be sown in the Rivne Region.

The message says that the largest area of ​​crops is corn - 705,000 hectares, barley - 702,100 hectares, spring wheat has already been sown on 199,800 hectares, peas - 201,800 hectares, oats - 154,200 hectares.

Industrial crops have been sown on an area of ​​1,763,600 hectares.

Of these: sunflower was sown on 1,236,800 hectares; sugar beet - 228,500 hectares; soybeans - 187,600 hectares.

Leading regions in terms of sowing rates: Poltava Region: 251,500 hectares (wheat - 4,500 hectares, barley – 69,100 hectares, peas – 9,600 hectares, oats – 3,100 hectares, corn – 165,200 hectares); Kirovohrad Region: 146,400 hectares (wheat – 3,000 hectares, barley – 35,400 hectares, peas – 18,700 hectares, oats – 500 hectares, corn – 84,700 hectares); Sumy Region: 138,100 hectares (wheat – 21,500 hectares, barley – 18,200 hectares, peas – 5,800 hectares, oats – 9,800 hectares, corn – 81,200 hectares); Odesa Region: 122,500 hectares (wheat – 6,500 hectares, barley – 35,200 hectares, peas – 62,000 hectares, oats – 1,500 hectares, corn – 8,400 hectares); Khmelnytskyi Region: 119,900 hectares (wheat – 10,900 hectares, barley – 74,500 hectares, peas – 2,600 hectares, oats – 2,500 hectares, corn – 24,800 hectares).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, as of April 18, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine had sown 1,247,200 hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops.

In 2025, it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops, which corresponds to the level of 2024.

The main feature of the new season will be an increase in the area under spring wheat to 227,500 hectares.
