Japan to provide satellite intelligence to Ukraine

Japan has agreed to provide Ukraine with satellite geospatial data, including radar images from SAR satellites. This is reported by the Intelligence Online publication.

Thus, it is reported that the Japanese Institute for Q-shu Pioneers of Space (iQPS) at Kyushu University will provide the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with images from synthetic aperture radars (SAR). It is noted that both sides agreed to allocate two to three months to install iQPS programming and reception tools on the Defense Intelligence platform.

Negotiations on providing Ukraine with intelligence from Japan have been ongoing since the end of February. In the end, the Ukrainian and Japanese sides signed a corresponding agreement on the exchange of intelligence information last week.

The publication emphasized that iQPS has five surveillance satellites in orbit and plans to launch two more by the end of 2026.
