Not related to pneumonia. Media learn probable cause of Pope Francis death
The death of Pope Francis is allegedly not related to the bilateral pneumonia with which the pontiff was hospitalized in mid-February 2025.
This was reported by the Italian publications Corriere della Sera and La Repubblica.
Corriere della Sera wrote, citing its own sources, that the head of the Catholic Church died as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage.
According to the publication, in the coming hours the Holy See is going to publish an official statement indicating the cause of the pontiff's death.
La Repubblica writes that the doctors of the Gemelli Clinic in Rome, who were monitoring Francis, stated that the pontiff's death had no connection with his recent respiratory illness.
At the time of publication of the news, the Holy See had not published a statement indicating the official cause of Francis' death.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Pope Francis I died today, April 21, in the Vatican. He was 88 years old. He had occupied the Holy See since March 13, 2013. According to Reuters, Francis asked to simplify the papal funeral rite and to be buried in a regular wooden coffin.
