AFU conducting counteroffensive operations in Donetsk Region, 16 sq. km liberated in recent weeks - Syrskyi

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting counteroffensive operations in the Donetsk Region, 16 sq. km have been liberated in recent weeks. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Syrskyi, in particular, said that for three days he had visited virtually all the brigades of the Donetsk operational-tactical group, which bears the main burden of resisting the enemy's spring offensive and is destroying its best forces and means. In particular, according to him, in the Pokrovsk Axis, Ukrainian soldiers stop about 30 enemy assault operations every day and inflict significant losses on the russian occupiers.

Syrskyi noted that the enemy has not changed its plans - to push the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine beyond the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions and reach the administrative borders of these regions, however, the enemy's plan remains unrealized.

"We are continuing the defensive operation, conducting counteroffensive actions and have had some success. In recent weeks, we have liberated about 16 sq. km of territory in the area of the settlements of Udachne, Kotlyne, Shevchenko," he said.
