US imposes 10% tariff on imports from Ukraine
The United States is imposing a separate 10% tariff on Ukrainian imports. This is the minimum base tariff level for countries that have fallen under new trade restrictions.
US President Donald Trump has announced this.
Speaking in the Rose Garden near the White House, the American leader announced a large-scale increase in import tariffs.
The Trump administration presented a list of tariffs, calling this package “Liberation Day Reciprocal Tariffs”. The list includes hundreds of countries, as well as the European Union. Ukraine is among them.
According to the new tariffs, a 10% duty is being imposed on Ukrainian goods.
The same tariff level applies to a number of other countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Singapore, Turkey, Colombia, Chile, El Salvador, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and others.
The US reciprocal tariffs will come into effect on April 9, and all countries will start paying the minimum basic tariff from April 5.
As Bloomberg notes, the basic 10% duty will be added to existing tariffs. For example, for Chinese goods, the total rate will be 44% (34+10), and for products from the EU - 30% (20+10).
Recall that US President Donald Trump officially launched a tariff, or "trade" war against all states, introducing duties from 10% to 50% on imports, depending on the country of origin.
US President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs on many countries around the world, setting a minimum rate of 10%. Ukraine is also affected by the new tariffs, but russia, North Korea, Cuba and Belarus are not on the list.
