Navy deny that coordinates of cruiser Moskva were given to them by US

Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said that Ukraine itself received the coordinates of the cruiser Moskva and the Navy struck it with its own forces, without the help of the US.

Pletenchuk said this on the air of a telethon.

Before that, The New York Times claimed that the coordinates of the Moskva were given to the Ukrainian military by the US.

"We did not receive any coordinates regarding the location of the cruiser Moskva, and the operation to destroy this flagship of the Black Sea Fleet was fully planned and carried out exclusively by the Navy," he said.

Pletenchuk explained that the strike on the cruiser was coordinated with "the top leadership in accordance with the subordination structure," but it was the Ukrainian leadership. Kyiv had nothing to coordinate with Washington. The Navy received permission to strike back and carried it out.

"Therefore, the information about coordination and providing accurate information and location is not true, as is the information that it was necessary to coordinate it," Pletenchuk concluded.

Recall that The New York Times wrote the day before that American officials were furious when they learned that Ukraine had attacked the russian flagship Moskva in the Black Sea. They were also surprised that Ukraine had a Neptun missile that could hit such a ship. It was claimed that Washington did not want the Navy to destroy such an important "symbol of russian military power."

The cruiser Moskva was hit on April 13, 2022, when the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit it with a Ukrainian missile system Neptun. The ship was damaged and sank after some time.
