Kremlin preparing for multi-vector offensive along 1,000-kilometer front line – media
Russian troops are preparing for a new offensive in the coming weeks to maximize pressure on Ukraine and strengthen the kremlin's position in ceasefire talks. They could last from 6 to 9 months, analysts say.
AP reported this, citing Ukrainian government officials and analysts.
According to them, this could give kremlin leader vladimir putin a reason to drag out talks on a cessation of hostilities, trying to seize more territory.
Ukrainian officials have once again stressed that russia is not interested in a real dialogue on ending the war.
With the spring fighting season approaching, the kremlin is preparing for a multi-vector offensive along the 1,000-kilometer front line, analysts and military commanders said in comments to the publication.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, citing intelligence, said russia was preparing new attacks in the Sumy, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia Regions.
The publication notes that in the north, russian and North Korean soldiers have almost deprived Kyiv of a key negotiating trump card, having regained most of the Kursk Oblast. On the eastern front, fighting has also intensified in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia Regions.
Some commanders are concerned about whether russia could transfer battle-hardened forces from Kursk to other parts of the East.
“It will be hard. The forces from Kursk will come on a high from their wins there,” said a commander of a Ukrainian battalion in the Donetsk Region, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Military analyst Oleksii Hetman, who has connections with the military of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told the publication that the russian federation is preparing offensive actions at the front, which should last from six to nine months, almost the entire year of 2025.
