Rada creates cyberattack response system
The Verkhovna Rada is creating a cyberattack response system.
The parliament adopted the relevant decision during its meeting, which is broadcast on its YouTube channel by Oleksii Honcharenko, MP from the European Solidarity faction, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
A total of 240 MPs voted for the adoption of the relevant bill No. 11290, with a minimum of 226 votes.
A national system for responding to cybersecurity incidents, cyberattacks, and cyberthreats to information, electronic communication, and information-communication systems that process state information resources or information with restricted access, the protection of which is required by law, and critical information infrastructure facilities, is being created in Ukraine and is being ensured.
The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection is responsible for ensuring the functioning of such a system.
The national cyberattack response system includes: CERT-UA, which is the national cyberattack response team (national CSIRT) and sectoral and regional teams for responding to cybersecurity incidents, cyberattacks, and cyberthreats (sectoral and regional CSIRTs), which are created by state authorities or local governments to strengthen the ability to respond to cyberattacks in the relevant industry, sphere, or region.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence recommends that the parliament adopt the bill "On Cyberforces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" as a basis.
The failure of Ukrzaliznytsia's systems, which occurred on March 23, was caused by a large-scale cyberattack.
