China preparing to invade Taiwan in 2027 - Bloomberg
China is preparing its military to invade Taiwan in 2027, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, March 19, citing the findings of Taiwan's Ministry of Defense.
According to the publication, tensions are growing between Taiwan and Beijing. Taiwan is even planning to hold military exercises that will simulate an attack by the Chinese military on the island to test its readiness for possible aggression.
"Taiwan has identified 2027 as a potential year for a Chinese invasion for the first time during its annual military exercises, as concerns grow on the self-ruled island about tensions with Beijing... The exercises will also double to ten days this summer, reflecting an increased focus on military readiness in the democracy that China considers its territory," the material says.
Chinese leader Xi Jinping has set a goal for the People's Liberation Army to become "modern" by 2027 and a world-class force by 2047. US officials have warned that China is preparing to invade Taiwan by 2027 as Beijing builds up its fighter jets, warships and aims to double its stockpile of ballistic and cruise missiles.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 7, Taiwanese authorities announced that a Chinese vessel had severed an undersea cable.
