Public transport during air raids will continue to operate on route from March 21 – Kyiv City State Administration
From March 21, ground public transport during air raids, after disembarking those who wish near the nearest shelter, will continue to operate on the route. The corresponding decision, after consultations with the military, law enforcement officers, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, was adopted today, March 18, by the Kyiv City Defense Council, as reported on the Kyiv City State Administration website.
This applies to both municipal transport of the Kyivpastrans municipal company and private carriers.
Thus, in the event of an air raid, vehicles of the Kyivpastrans municipal company and private companies providing passenger transportation services will stop near the nearest shelter located along the route of transport, in a safe place in accordance with the Road Traffic Rules.
Passengers who wish can leave the cabin and move to a safe place. If necessary, passengers will be provided with the necessary assistance.
The driver of the ground passenger transport will make an announcement about the possibility of further continuation of the trip along the route.
After those who wish leave the vehicle, the driver will continue driving along the route.
At the same time, the protocol of the Kyiv Defense Council states that the driver also has the right to decide to go to the shelter during the air raid.
The Kyiv metro will operate in the same mode for the time being. The movement of trains in the ground part of the metro during the air raid will remain limited.
The city authorities call on Kyiv residents and guests of the capital to be attentive and, if possible, to use shelter for their own safety during the air raid.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 27, the spokesman for the Kyiv Public Transport Authority Yevhen Ievlev said that public transport drivers in Kyiv will decide for themselves whether to stop during the air raid.
On February 19, the head of the Kyiv Public Transport Authority Tymur Tkachenko reported that the rules for public transport during air raids in the capital are being revised.
