Russia puts forward demands for peace talks with US on Ukraine – Reuters

Aggressor state russia has presented the US with a list of its demands for concluding a deal to end the war against Ukraine and reset relations with Washington after three weeks of discussions.

Reuters reported this, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

According to the interlocutors, russian and American officials have discussed the conditions during in-person and virtual conversations over the past three weeks.

At the same time, it is not clear what exactly russia has included in its list and whether it is ready to hold peace talks with Ukraine before these demands are accepted.

The sources of the publication characterized the kremlin's conditions as broad and similar to demands it has previously put forward to Ukraine, the United States and NATO, such as refusing Kyiv's membership in NATO, agreeing not to deploy foreign troops in Ukraine and international recognition of president vladimir putin's claim that Crimea and four regions belong to russia.

In recent years, russia has also demanded that the United States and NATO address what it calls the “root causes” of the war, including NATO’s eastward expansion.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump is waiting for putin to answer whether he will agree to a 30-day ceasefire, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he would accept as a first step toward peace talks.

Putin’s commitment to a potential ceasefire deal remains uncertain as details have yet to be finalized.

Some US officials, lawmakers and experts fear that putin, a former KGB officer, will use the ceasefire to intensify what they say are efforts to divide the United States, Ukraine and Europe and undermine any negotiations.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Bloomberg earlier informed that russian dictator vladimir putin could agree to a 30-day ceasefire, which would include a ceasefire along the entire front line. However, before that, he will probably try to demand that Ukraine stop receiving Western military aid.

Recall that on March 11, negotiations were held between Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian side expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal to introduce a 30-day ceasefire.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a possible temporary ceasefire involves a ceasefire on the front line, and not only at sea and in the sky.
