Latvian airBaltic prepares to resume flights to Ukraine after airspace reopens

Latvian airline airBaltic confirms its readiness to resume regular flights to and from Ukraine as soon as airspace is reopened and all necessary permits are received.

This is stated in the company's statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

As part of the preparation, an airBaltic delegation visited Kyiv this week to meet with local stakeholders and explore the possibilities of resuming the necessary air service.

It is noted that during the visit, the delegation met with representatives of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Boryspil International Airport, and the Embassy of Latvia in Ukraine.

“As previously reported, airBaltic is ready to reintegrate Kyiv and Lviv into its route network as soon as airspace is reopened and all necessary confirmations are received. The airline also plans to expand its connections beyond Riga, connecting Kyiv with other Baltic capitals - Tallinn and Vilnius," the statement said.

airBaltic is looking forward to the opening of Ukrainian airspace and will be ready to resume flights, connecting the three Baltic capitals with Kyiv and Lviv.

In addition, in order to improve, facilitate and make it more accessible to Ukrainian-speaking customers, the airline has integrated the Ukrainian language into its official website.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in mid-February 2025, the Hungarian airline Wizz Air announced that it wanted to start flights to Ukraine six weeks after the fighting in Ukraine ceases.
