Electricity tariff to increase from May 1. Who will have to pay more?
The electricity tariff will increase in Ukraine in less than a month, but not for all consumers. In particular, from May 1, 2025, the preferential electricity tariff for consumers using electric heating will be canceled in Ukraine.
As stated in the explanation of Yasno, until now, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 37 of January 17, 2025, the following tariffs apply to this category of consumers:
- For consumption up to 2000 kWh inclusive - UAH 2.64 per kWh.
- For consumption over 2000 kWh - UAH 4.32 per kWh.
From May 1, 2025, the preferential tariff for consumers with electric heating will be canceled. That is, all consumers, including those who use electric heating, will pay a single tariff of UAH 4.32 per kWh.
The cost of electricity is fixed by Government Resolution No. 632 of 05/31/2024 until the end of April. That is, from May 1, 2025, the government must either increase the cost of electricity or extend the validity of the resolution for another year. Usually, decisions on tariffs are made by the end of the next heating season (i.e., most likely, the resolution will be valid from May 2024 to May 2025).
Recall that YASNO told which customers are billed for electricity based on average daily consumption.
