Editor-in-chief of the Detector Media group of publications Natalia Lihachova claims that Yarysh's dismissal was the result of an audit conducted by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Lihachova did not specify where she got this information from.

She also did not provide details as to why the DOGE audit led to the dismissal of the Ukrainian journalist.

DOGE was created by decree of US President Donald Trump at the end of January 2025. The head of the organization was appointed American billionaire Elon Musk, who was granted the status of a special civil servant for this purpose.

Trump and Musk previously stated that the purpose of creating DOGE is to reduce the costs of the US government.

During the month and a half of its work, DOGE and its leader were subjected to widespread criticism, in particular for mass layoffs and attempts to gain access to sensitive payment systems.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in late February it became known that Trump signed a decree expanding the powers of the department controlled by Musk.

However, the day before, Politico wrote that Trump had "put Musk in his place." He forbade him from carrying out mass layoffs of civil servants and reminded that the departments are managed by ministers, not DOGE.
