International reserves in February down 6.7% to USD 40.1 billion
As of March 1, 2025, Ukraine's international reserves, according to preliminary data, amounted to USD 40,145.5 million.
This is evidenced by NBU data, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In February, they decreased by 6.7%.
Such dynamics were due to the NBU's currency interventions and the country's debt payments in foreign currency.
These operations were only partially offset by proceeds from the placement of currency bonds of the domestic government loan (currency government bonds) in the absence of proceeds from international partners.
Despite the decrease, the volume of international reserves is sufficient to maintain the stability of the foreign exchange market.
In general, the dynamics of reserves was determined by a number of factors.
First, the operations of the National Bank in the foreign exchange market of Ukraine.
In February, compared to January 2025, the net sale of currency by the National Bank decreased by 19.4%.
According to balance sheet data, the NBU sold USD 3,022.6 million on the foreign exchange market and bought USD 0.5 million to reserves.
Secondly, receipts in favor of the government and payments for servicing and repaying the state debt.
In February, the foreign exchange accounts of the Government of Ukraine with the NBU received USD 255.0 million from the placement of foreign currency government bonds.
The government paid USD 341.6 million for servicing and repaying the state debt in foreign currency, of which:
USD 275.3 million - debt to the World Bank;
USD 54.1 million - debt to other international creditors of Ukraine;
USD 12.2 million - servicing foreign currency government bonds.
In addition, Ukraine paid USD 428.9 million to the International Monetary Fund.
Third, the revaluation of financial instruments (due to changes in market value and exchange rates).
In February, due to revaluation, the value of financial instruments increased by USD 673.4 million.
The current volume of international reserves provides financing for 4.9 months of future imports.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2024, international reserves grew by 8% to USD 43.8 billion.
In 2023, Ukraine's international reserves grew by 42% to USD 40.5 billion.
In 2022, international reserves decreased by 7.9% to USD 28.5 billion.
In 2021, international reserves grew by 6% to USD 30.941 billion.
