We do not want to be Americans – Prime Minister of Greenland responds to another statement by Trump about island
Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede stressed that the American leader must understand that Greenlanders do not want to be Americans, and they are not for sale, after another statement by Trump about the island.
He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"We do not want to be either Americans or Danes; we are Kalaallit. The Americans and their leader must understand this," the message says.
Egede stressed, "we are not for sale and we cannot be simply taken," emphasizing that the Greenlanders themselves will decide their future in Greenland.
Reference. The name of the country in Greenlandic sounds like Kalaallit Nunaat. Kalaallit is the self-name of the indigenous Greenlandic Inuit population living on the west coast.
Recall, US President Donald Trump, during his address to Congress, stated that, in his opinion, the US will get Greenland "one way or the other."
