Massive drone attack: Ukrainian air defense destroys 63 enemy drones

On the night of March 2, russian troops carried out a large-scale attack on the territory of Ukraine using Shahed strike drones and various types of simulator drones – a total of 79 drones were launched. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down 63 enemy air targets.

The command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported this.

The suicide drones and simulators were launched from russian territory, in particular from the Oryol, Bryansk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions.

According to data as of 08:30 a.m., the downings were recorded in 13 regions of Ukraine: Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv.

Anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, as well as electronic warfare units of the Air Forces and Defense Forces took part in repelling the massive air strike.

In addition to the downed targets, another 16 simulator drones were lost from radar, but this did not have negative consequences.

As a result of the russian attacks, objects in the territory of the Kharkiv, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhzhia Regions were damaged.

Recall that after three years of war, the russian Aerospace Forces, despite their numerical and technological superiority, were unable to achieve air supremacy over Ukraine. Because of this, russia is forced to use tactical aviation, in particular Su-34 aircraft, as aerial artillery.
