Trump administration wants Zelenskyy to publicly apologize after White House row

The Trump administration wants Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to publicly apologize after a row in the White House. They believe that this is the main condition for establishing good relations.

Bloomberg writes about this with reference to its sources in the Trump administration.

Another source says that an attempt to reconcile Zelenskyy and Trump has already been made. After the row, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called both leaders to try to convince them to return to negotiations. But he was unsuccessful. Trump was told that it takes time for emotions to subside.

Zelenskyy has repeatedly stated that the row is harmful to both sides.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, last Friday, February 28, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington to meet with Donald Trump.

It was assumed that while the two leaders would hold public and closed negotiations, representatives of Ukraine and the United States would sign a mineral agreement.

However, during the public part of the meeting, Zelenskyy got into a heated argument with Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, who also took part in the conversation.

Later, Zelenskyy and Trump had a conversation behind closed doors, but it did not last long. As it became known later, the Ukrainian President left the White House early, and the agreement was never signed.

Recall, a few hours after the incident, Zelenskyy said in an interview with Fox News that he did not consider it necessary to apologize to Trump for their public argument.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that the meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House was not successful, and the Ukrainian leader overdid it.

Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope for the normalization of relations with the United States.
