Almost everything is North Korean. Budanov tells about foreign weapons used by russian army
The aggressor contry of russia uses either its own weapons or weapons of North Korean origin in the war against Ukraine, and there are almost no Iranian ones.
This was stated by the head of the Defense Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with Ukrinform.
In response to a journalist's remark that the russians are attracting foreigners and weapons from other countries, in particular from North Korea and Iran, to the ranks of their army, Budanov said: "There was a minimum of Iranian ones there, now almost everything is North Korean."
According to Budanov, the very fact of using soldiers from North Korea is a humiliation for russia, which positioned itself as a superpowerful army.
"Let's start with the fact that North Korea used it, in principle, this is a humiliating fact for the russian federation as a country that proclaims itself almost with an encroachment on the world leader, or at least the second most powerful army in the world. It is humiliating, but the realities are such that they had to do this," he said.
Budanov sees the benefit for the DPRK of participating in the war on the side of the russian federation in the fact that North Korean soldiers gain combat experience. Their soldiers have already seen the realities of modern warfare, and after returning, those who survive will be able to teach others. The North Koreans have also "run in" their weapons in battles.
In particular, the russian army uses North Korean ballistic missiles of the KN-23 type. Initially, the missiles were extremely inaccurate, but the Russians modernized them, and the ammunition became more accurate.
"And it is clear that a new threat will appear for the Pacific region, because it is one thing when they fired directly towards the Sea of Japan, and everyone, as they say, was nervous. But, let's be honest, everyone understood that the accuracy was not the same, and the quality, who knows how it will work, and now - that's all. This is just one very small aspect," Budanov explained.
Recall, Budanov also stated that for russia, each day of the war against Ukraine costs about USD 1 billion.
