Inflation will increase to 14% by end of March – Hetmantsev
According to the forecasts of the National Bank, inflation will accelerate in the first quarter of 2025 to 14.3% by the end of March.
Danylo Hetmantsev, a Verkhovna Rada Member from the Servant of the People faction, chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian News agency.
"Inflation has indeed become higher than what the National Bank and the government expected. The National Bank predicted 9.7% for 2024, and we have 12%. Moreover, I can say that it will accelerate in the first quarter of 2025. We are talking about 14.3% by the end of March - this is the forecast of the National Bank," he said.
At the same time, according to Hetmantsev, inflation is expected to decrease to 8.4% by the end of the year, and to 5% in 2026.
The MP noted that to combat inflation, the NBU is raising the discount rate, which has already reached 14.5%.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Hetmantsev named the main reasons for the current inflation.
