Russia faces problems with army recruitment: Defense Ministry proposes to mobilize mentally and seriously ill

The russian army is facing difficulties in recruiting new servicemen due to citizens’ reluctance to go to war. The russian Defense Ministry plans to complicate the procedures for releasing conscripts, in particular by reviewing medical grounds for unfitness for service.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the level of military recruitment in russia probably does not cover the losses of the army, and some regions are not fulfilling their quotas. At the same time, the State Duma states that mobilization is not needed, and the recruitment of contract soldiers is continuing successfully.

On February 3, the russian Defense Ministry proposed to reclassify a number of diseases, including mental disorders and serious illnesses, as less significant, which would allow more military personnel to be recruited.

Amid high losses, russia turned to North Korea for military assistance, but North Korean units also suffered significant losses and were withdrawn from the front.

Recall that the russian army has lost almost 10,000 tanks and more than 20,000 armored combat vehicles since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

In particular, the losses of russian troops on February 3 increased by 1,270 to 842,930 people, and Ukrainian defenders over the past day destroyed 18 tanks, 24 armored combat vehicles, 66 artillery systems and 92 drones.

Meanwhile, the russian military, having suffered significant losses of armored vehicles in Ukraine, has begun to use horses.
