Moldova approves new cooperation plan with NATO

The Moldovan government on January 29 approved a new cooperation plan with the North Atlantic Alliance for 2025-2028 to prepare countries for modern security threats.

It was reported by the Newsmaker publication on Wednesday, January 29.

The press service of the Moldovan government noted that the partnership with NATO helps to combat disinformation, cyberattacks and other national security challenges. The program also adheres to Moldova's neutrality and contributes to strengthening national security. As an example, the Moldovan government cited Austria, Switzerland and Ireland, which cooperate with NATO to strengthen the defense sector.

"Although NATO is known primarily as a military alliance, cooperation with Moldova is focused on security sector reform, addressing key infrastructure issues, and technical training. The partnership does not involve participation in military missions, except for UN missions or missions that violate the country's neutrality," the report says.

The new partnership program will be drawn up for 4 years and will begin in 2025.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the morning of November 10, the Moldovan police announced the detection of a russian drone on the territory of their country.

On October 16, shell fragments were found in the north of Moldova, four kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

On August 26, Moldova reported power outages as a result of a massive russian attack on Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
