Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu discuss future contacts with Trump

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have discussed future contacts with U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Office of the President has announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The President and the Prime Minister discussed bilateral issues and future contacts with partners, primarily with U.S. President Donald Trump," the report says.

It is noted that during a telephone conversation with Netanyahu, Zelenskyy spoke about his participation in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland, and expressed condolences to the Prime Minister and the entire Israeli people in connection with the tragedy of the Holocaust.

Zelenskyy welcomed the beginning of the release of the hostages and expressed hope that all of them will be released as soon as possible and will be able to return home.

Zelenskyy, speaking on the Telegram channel about the telephone conversation with Netanyahu, noted that they also considered current bilateral issues and agreed to continue close contact in the future.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy visited Poland on January 27 to participate in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, where more than 1 million people died during World War II, most of the prisoners killed by the Nazis were Jews.

Netanyahu decided not to go to the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, although Poland promised not to arrest him despite the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to arrest him.

Zelenskyy congratulated Trump on his inauguration on January 20 and noted that he expects active and mutually beneficial cooperation.
