Trump's freeze on foreign aid does not concern Ukraine – MP Zhelezniak
The decree on the temporary suspension of all U.S. foreign aid programs, signed by U.S. President Donald Trump, does not concern current aid to Ukraine.
Verkhovna Rada Member from the Holos faction Yaroslav Zhelezniak wrote about this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"I have already read 100,500 times in various media outlets "Trump froze foreign aid.... what will it be!?" In short: it does not concern us. We chose Congressional aid (only a part from the President remains there, but this has nothing to do with the decree). Congress did not vote on new aid," he explained.
Zhelezniak asked "not to spread treason where there is none."
Earlier, the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council denied that the suspension of U.S. international aid by the new U.S. President Donald Trump concerns military aid to Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order temporarily suspending all U.S. foreign assistance programs for 90 days to conduct checks on their compliance with the new administration's policy goals.
