It is impossible to win war on defense – Syrskyi

It is impossible to win a war if you are on defense. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said this in an interview with journalist Andrii Tsaplienko on Sunday, January 19.

"No matter how much you defend, you will still retreat, because the enemy is attacking, it has the initiative. It can transfer its forces, means, concentrate equipment in the weakest areas. And we are forced to maintain defense, concentrate our forces, in fact, hold along the entire front line," said Syrskyi.

According to him, it is necessary to implement what Ukraine has advantages in, in particular, regarding the world's first Unmanned Systems Forces. Currently, this component is being scaled up, primarily in the Ground Forces, Airborne Assault Forces, and Marine Corps units, the Commander-in-Chief noted. Over the year, there has been a rapid increase in the number of different types and purposes of drones, and ground-based robotic platforms are also being actively used, Syrskyi said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 19, Syrskyi said that mobilization measures do not cover the needs of mechanized brigades.
