Mobilization does not cover AFU needs - Syrskyi on situation at front

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced that he has banned the transfer of highly qualified specialists from the Air Force to the infantry, although mobilization measures do not cover the needs of manning of mechanized brigades.

Syrskyi stated this in an interview with journalist Andrii Tsaplienko on Sunday, January 19.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that he ordered not to transfer highly qualified personnel specializing in aircraft maintenance to the infantry. According to him, there is no one to replace them and funds have been spent on their training.

"On the other hand, we have needs at the front. We must increase the number of personnel in our mechanized brigades, and the needs and mobilization capabilities, unfortunately, do not cover this need. Therefore, we are taking measures to reduce our logistics component, the support component, the component engaged in maintenance, again, within reasonable limits," Syrskyi said.

The headquarters know these tasks, they have made calculations, and our task is to react instantly and prevent anyone from the above-mentioned category of specialists from ending up at the front, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 14, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied the transfer of acutely deficient specialists from the Air Force's engineering and aviation service to the infantry.

After that, the acting commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Anatolii Kryvonozhko, stated that the transfers of specialists from the engineering and aviation service, as well as other specialties in short supply in the Air Force, to units of other branches and types of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be carried out.

On January 14, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed not to reduce the number of specialists in the Air Force performing combat missions.
