War cost Ukraine USD 100 billion in 2024 – Zelenskyy
Ukraine spent about USD 100 billion on providing the Defense Forces in 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a briefing with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Kyiv on Thursday, January 16.
RBC-Ukraine has reported this.
Zelenskyy noted that the United States and Europe have made and continue to make a significant contribution to supporting the state's defense capabilities, but Ukraine makes the highest contribution in people.
"The war in 2024 cost Ukraine about USD 100 billion in terms of providing the Defense Forces, of which USD 40 billion is Ukraine's contribution. USD 35 billion - the United States, USD 25 billion - Europe. That's approximately the contribution of each of us. Therefore, we see the strength in this union and show what contribution Ukraine is making. Of course, these are people, but you also see the percentage in terms of money," Zelenskyy emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 16, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Kyiv to sign an agreement on a 100-year partnership.
Not far from the place of communication between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Starmer, air defense forces were activated, shooting down a drone of the aggressor country russia.
The wreckage of an enemy drone fell in the Solomianskyi District of Kyiv.
Later, the wreckage of russian drones was found in five districts of the capital.
