UN Security Council to hold meeting to discuss war crimes committed by russia against prisoners of war and civilians

The United Nations Security Council, at the initiative of Ukraine, will hold a meeting on war crimes committed by the aggressor country russia.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha has announced this.

"At the initiative of Ukraine, the UN Security Council will hold a meeting today dedicated to Russia's crimes against Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians," the minister wrote.

According to him, the UN Security Council meeting will be held according to the Arria formula (named after diplomat Diego Arria), that is, in the format of an informal meeting for the exchange of frank opinions using a flexible procedural framework.

Sybiha stressed that Ukraine intends to use all international platforms to draw attention to the crimes committed by russia, as well as to Ukrainians held in russian captivity.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 6, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said that the occupiers probably shot three more servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who had laid down their weapons and surrendered.

Recall that in December, Lubinets reported that the number of executions of prisoners by the russian military had increased at the front.
