North Korea claims successful hypersonic missile launch

The North Korean authorities said that on January 6 they conducted a successful test launch of a new medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile.

This was reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The missile was launched from a test range in the vicinity of the capital of the DPRK, Pyongyang. The missile flew 1,500 kilometers at a speed 12 times faster than the speed of sound. During the launch, it reached two maximum altitudes of 99.8 and 42.5 kilometers, respectively, moved along a given trajectory and fell into open waters.

The tests were observed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

South Korea says that the KCNA is exaggerating: the missile flew not 1,500, but 1,100 kilometers, and the second peak altitude was only at an altitude of 42.5 kilometers. And the missile could have been developed with the participation of russia.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, North Korea has supplied the aggressor country of russia with a new batch of Hwasong-11 (KN-23) ballistic missiles, which the russian army systematically uses to strike the territory of Ukraine.
