Almost every drone supplied to AFU made by Ukrainian company — Shmyhal

Over 96% of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) supplied to the units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine are produced by Ukrainian companies.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated this on December 31 at a government meeting, as quoted by RBC-Ukraine.

According to Shmyhal, Ukrainian production in the drone segment now accounts for over 96%. He added that over 1.2 million UAVs were purchased through the Army of Drones project.

The head of government also said that state and private sector investments have made it possible to increase the capabilities of Ukraine's defense-industrial complex sixfold, where over 800 companies currently operate.

Foreign partners provide significant assistance to the Ukrainian defense industry. They finance the purchase of weapons for the Ukrainian army by transferring funds directly to manufacturing companies (the so-called "Danish model"). In this way, it has already been possible to attract almost USD 1 billion.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, on December 26, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the start of testing mobile command posts for units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine equipped with drones.

And on December 25, it became known that the Ministry of Defense allowed the supply of the Ukrainian-made Shchedryk unmanned aviation complex to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Recall, in early November 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to increase orders for domestically produced UAVs.
