Ukraine superior to russia in drone warfare, but new "invention" of russians creating problem — Budanov
The head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, said that the occupiers have begun to massively use UAVs with cables at the front. This creates a big problem in the context of the drone war.
Budanov said this on December 31 during a telethon, his words are quoted by RBC-Ukraine.
"We are still winning in the drone war, but the Russians have massively switched to using drones with cables <...> Yes, this is a huge problem for us now," Budanov said.
These are drones to which a coil with a fiber-optic cable is attached. Because of this, the drone cannot be suppressed by electronic warfare means, since the communication between the device and the operator is not carried out via a radio channel, but directly via a wire.
According to Budanov, drones with a cable have become a kind of "know-how" of 2024.
He added that work is planned for next year to find technological solutions that will make it possible to combat such drones.
As the Ukrainian News agency reported, earlier today, December 31, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that more than 96% of drones supplied to units of the Ukrainian army were produced by domestic companies.
Recall, on December 25, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine allowed the supply of the Ukrainian-made "Shchedryk" unmanned aviation complex to the troops.
