Trump wants to end war in Ukraine in 2025 – Welt

The U.S. President-elect Donald Trump wants to end the war in Ukraine in 2025 through negotiations.

The German publication Welt reported this on Monday, December 30.

The article states that Ukraine is significantly weakened militarily. The publication writes that the morale of the fighters is falling, as a result of which the number of deserters is increasing. Under such conditions, there is only one scenario for Ukraine to end the war, notes Welt.

"For President Zelenskyy, there is only one scenario of negotiations, which will have significant consequences for Germany," the material says.

According to the author, there is not much time left until the defense of the Donetsk Region falls, after which the russian occupiers plan to attack the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia Regions. In addition, a demilitarized zone will be created in Ukraine, which is provided for in the plan of the future U.S. Vice President James David Vance. The rest of the state can exist without joining NATO as an independent state, the publication noted. At the same time, such a plan is very close to the kremlin's plans, Welt emphasizes.

"For the Ukrainian government, Western security guarantees are in the focus of possible negotiations, and the best of them is accession to NATO, which is not in the Vance plan," the article says.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 11, the U.S. President-elect Donald Trump called russia's war with Ukraine a priority problem that he must resolve.

On December 9, Trump confirmed that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the possibility of ending the war.
