South Korean intelligence confirms capture of DPRK soldier by AFU

The Ukrainian Defense Forces captured a wounded North Korean soldier in the Kursk Oblast. The information appeared in Ukrainian media the night before. On December 27, the South Korean news agency disseminated a statement from the Republic of Korea's intelligence agency confirming that the wounded North Korean soldier was captured alive.

It was reported by Yonhap News Agency.

"Through real-time information sharing with a friendly nation's intelligence organization, (we) confirmed the capture of a wounded North Korean soldier and plans to thoroughly examine the subsequent development," the National Intelligence Service said in a brief release.

It should be noted that on December 26, a message with a photo appeared on the Internet that soldiers of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine probably captured the first DPRK soldier who fought on the side of russia. The North Korean soldier was probably wounded. However, there was no detailed information about his condition.

"The SOF group conducted an operation to destroy the enemy on the Kursk axis. In addition to successfully completing the task, there were also trophies: prisoners, including a mercenary from Korea, as well as an armored personnel carrier equipped with anti-cumulative protection," the Ukrainian media report says.

If the information is confirmed, this case can be called the first replenishment of the "exchange fund" with North Korean soldiers.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that russia was preparing North Korean soldiers for direct participation in hostilities. It was assumed that Pyongyang's forces would enter the battle against the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Kursk axis.

After that, South Korean intelligence reported that, according to its data, at least 100 North Korean (DPRK) servicemen stationed in the aggressor country of russia were killed, and another 1,000 were injured during intense fighting with the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk Oblast.
