Biden calls on Pentagon to increase military aid to Kyiv after massive Christmas shelling

US President Joe Biden responded to the large-scale russian missile attack on Ukrainian regions on Christmas Day by promising to strengthen support for Ukraine's air defense.

This is announced in Biden's statement.

In his Christmas address, the American President called on the Pentagon to increase military aid to Ukraine, emphasizing that "Ukrainians have the right to live in peace and security."

He also noted that in recent months the United States has transferred hundreds of air defense missiles to Ukraine, and additional deliveries are already being prepared.

"I have instructed the Department of Defense to continue a large-scale increase in weapons supplies to Ukraine. The United States will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen Ukraine's position in confronting russian aggression," the statement said.

Separately, Biden emphasized that the purpose of the russian strikes was to deprive Ukrainians of access to heat and electricity in the winter, jeopardizing the stability of the country's energy system.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on Christmas Day, December 25, the aggressor country of russia launched more than 70 missiles and 100 drones into Ukraine. More than 50 missiles and a significant part of the drones were shot down.
