Finance Ministry attracts EUR 150 million grant from EU for free meals for children in grades 1-4
The European Union has allocated EUR 150 million in the form of a grant to the special fund of the State Budget of Ukraine.
This is announced in a statement by the Ministry of Finance, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The funds attracted are the second tranche within the framework of the Agreement between Ukraine and the EU on financing the program “Support to the rapid recovery of Ukraine (Contract for state building and strengthening of resilience)”.
The total envisaged amount is EUR 300 million.
The first tranche of EUR 150 million was received by Ukraine in December 2023.
The funds of the second tranche will be directed to:
- providing free meals for children in grades 1-4 - EUR 65 million;
- restoring port infrastructure - EUR 50 million;
- supporting uninterrupted production of agricultural products and access of agricultural producers to financing - EUR 20 million;
- restoration of critical facilities damaged by the armed aggression of the russian federation, in particular transport infrastructure, critical and utility facilities, utilities, social infrastructure and residential premises - EUR 15 million.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine previously received EUR 4.1 billion from the European Union under the Ukraine Facility program.
