Fico makes statement after meeting with putin
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico made a statement after meeting with the president of the aggressor country, russia, vladimir putin.
On Facebook, Fico wrote that he allegedly warned the leaders of the European Union in advance about his visit to the kremlin and tried to justify it by Ukraine's unwillingness to continue the transit of russian gas.
"In a long conversation with Putin, we exchanged views on what is happening in Ukraine, the military situation in Ukraine, the possibility of an early peaceful end to the war, and relations between Slovakia and the Russian Federation," the Slovak politician detailed.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the day before, Slovak Prime Minister Fico accused President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of an alleged bribery attempt. According to him, the Ukrainian leader offered him EUR 500 million from frozen russian assets to cover losses from the suspension of russian gas transit.
Recall, in October of this year, Fico said that he would try to persuade Ukraine not to stop gas transit from russia after 2024.
Earlier, we reported that on December 20, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine would stop the transit of russian gas from January 1, 2025.
