Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responds to statement of President of Slovakia Pellegrini about territorial concessions
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhii Tykhyi, in response to the words of the President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini about the territorial concessions to russia by Ukraine, stated that the last recorded in history concession of Slovakia's lands "in the name of peace" did not bring good to either the country itself or the world.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced this on his page on X, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The last time Slovak land was ceded to an aggressor—in the name of peace—it did not turn out well and did not bring peace to either the Slovaks or other nations," Tykhyi wrote.
Earlier, the President of Slovakia Pellegrini stated that russia and Ukraine need to sit down at the negotiating table, and that Kyiv should make territorial concessions for the sake of peace.
"No one in Europe with normal thinking today thinks that peace can be established without territorial losses for Ukraine," he said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico once again spoke out against Ukraine's accession to NATO and said that he would oppose the country's accession to the Alliance as long as he is Slovak Prime Minister.
At the same time, he supported Ukraine's accession to the EU.
In addition, according to him, Slovakia will participate in any form of peace initiative to end the war in Ukraine.
