Fortification construction work in Kharkiv Region completed by 99.9% - Shmyhal

Fortification construction work in the Kharkiv Region has been completed by 99.9%.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"An additional UAH 6 billion have been allocated for the construction of fortifications in the Kharkiv Region. The state of completion of the work is 99.9%. Almost 800 strong points have been built and equipped," he said.

Shmyhal added that the Ministry of Defense was instructed to equip all fortifications with drainage systems for normal water drainage, the necessary changes have been made to the documentation, and the work has been completed.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this year the Kharkiv Region is among the regions to which the government has allocated the most funds, in particular almost UAH 16 billion in the form of subventions.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada member from the Servant of the People faction, Maryana Bezuhla, stated that no fortifications have been built on the border with the aggressor country of russia in the Kharkiv Region, although two years have passed since the liberation of these territories from the russian occupiers.

In April, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated another UAH 8 billion for the construction of fortifications, thus, from the beginning of 2024, almost UAH 38 billion have been allocated to strengthen the defense lines.
