"It's just shameful." Zelenskyy announces sanctions against Georgian authorities

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the violent dispersal of protesters in Georgia shameful. Ukraine is already preparing appropriate sanctions.

The head of state said this in an evening address.

"And in Georgia, of course, this is not only a problem of one people and not only of our region - how the current authorities in Georgia are pushing the country towards obvious dependence on russia. It's just shameful what things they are doing now against their own people. And when Moscow praises this government in Georgia, it clearly outlines who they are working for in Tbilisi now and for whom they are dispersing protests. Definitely not for Georgia," the President said.

He noted that Ukraine is preparing a legal response and is working with Europeans and other partners on specific actions.

"I have instructed to prepare appropriate sanctions decisions," Zelenskyy added.

Recall that earlier Ukraine called on Georgia to stop scaring people with the "Ukrainian scenario" and not to turn away from the European course.

In addition, the Baltic countries will impose sanctions against the Georgian authorities for the violent dispersal of the rally in Tbilisi.
