Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko meets with Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko met with Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and members of the delegation of the French capital at the city hall.
This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration website.
Vitalii Klitschko thanked the mayor for her assistance during the war.
"You are visiting Kyiv for the fifth time during a full-scale war. I admire your courage and thank you for such support and friendship. We remember that your first visit took place in April 2022. Then our cities signed the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation. An important evidence of partnership from Paris was the landmark event of 2022, when the city council of the French capital unanimously voted to grant Kyiv the status of honorary citizenship. With this distinction, which was awarded to Kyiv for the first time, Paris confirmed its true friendship with the capital of a state fighting for its freedom," Vitali Klitschko noted.
He also recalled that last year, on Ukraine's Independence Day in the center of Paris, they, together with Anne Hidalgo, opened Kyiv Square as a symbol of the French people's support for the struggle of Ukrainians for freedom and European values.
"During a recent visit to the Ukrainian capital, in March of this year, I presented Ms. Hidalgo with the Kyiv Mayor's award - the breastplate "For Assistance in the Defense of Kyiv". After all, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Paris City Hall has been sending humanitarian aid to Kyiv. In particular, generators and other equipment, which is extremely necessary. So that we can provide critical infrastructure facilities with energy during power outages. Because we need to survive a difficult winter - to maintain the economy of the metropolis, provide services to residents, and ensure the life of the city," said Klitschko.
The mayor of the Ukrainian capital also thanked Anne Hidalgo for her willingness to help in the reconstruction of Kyiv.
"I am confident that Kyiv and Paris will continue to effectively cooperate and implement joint mutually beneficial projects in various areas. We will also need to rebuild Ukraine. And I am grateful for Paris's willingness to help in this!" he stressed.
Earlier it was reported that Vitali Klitschko met with the Mayor of Vilnius Valdas Benkunskas. They discussed cooperation in the economic and cultural spheres, as well as Vilnius' participation in the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities and towns.
