NATO will provide Ukraine with air defense systems requested by Foreign Ministry - Rutte

NATO is trying to do everything possible to help Ukraine obtain the air defense systems requested by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said this in Brussels, Hromadske Radio reports.

According to Rutte, during the first thousand days of russia's full-scale offensive, NATO countries were able to provide Ukraine with many air defense systems.

"There is a particular need now to protect energy infrastructure. We talked about this last night. As you know, we do not have excess stocks of air defense systems in the world. This means that we always have to make sure that we prioritize. But last night there was a clear agreement that assistance to Ukraine, especially with its infrastructure, should be a priority," the Secretary General emphasized.

He assured that the Alliance members would make efforts in the coming days and weeks to provide Ukraine with air defense systems.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 5, Stoltenberg said that Ukraine had achieved "a lot" in its Kursk offensive against the aggressor country of russia.

Recall, in June of this year it became known that Jens Stoltenberg was leaving the post of NATO Secretary General. He took up this position on October 1, 2014.

Mark Rutte, the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, was elected to replace Stoltenberg.
