Shmyhal on improving electricity situation: making accurate forecast currently impossible

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that it is currently impossible to make an accurate forecast of when the energy supply situation will improve.

He said this at a government meeting, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Regarding when the situation will stabilize, it is currently impossible to make an accurate forecast. The Minister of Energy and the head of Ukrenergo must now report to the public every day. Provide a complete picture. Inform about what work is being done. We need to honestly and clearly provide people with information about the situation in the energy sector," he said.

Shmyhal noted that on November 28, russia carried out another massive missile and drone strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, and as a result of damage to equipment at Ukrenergo substations, power output restrictions arose, which created a deficit in its own generation.

"The current situation in the energy sector is complex, but it is controlled by Ukrenergo dispatchers. It is important that the system has maintained and maintains its integrity," he stressed.

The Prime Minister also noted that the work to overcome the consequences of the attack has not stopped for a minute, energy workers, rescuers, and sappers are working 24/7, emergency shutdowns of consumers have been canceled in all regions, but now outage schedules are being forcedly applied.

Shmyhal reported that Ukraine continues to import electricity from Europe, and the government has also decided that for businesses that import or produce 60% of their consumption on their own, shutdowns will not apply, thus the government encourages entrepreneurs to strengthen their energy sustainability.

The Prime Minister added that the government is actively working with international partners, more than EUR 700 million has already been collected in the energy support fund. Germany has announced an additional package of EUR 65 million euros for the repair of Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported Ukrenergo reported that emergency restoration work continues on November 29 due to the consequences of the massive missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian power system on November 28, and consumption restrictions for household consumers, industry and business will be forced to be applied throughout the day.
