Ukrainian delegation led by Umerov to visit South Korea with request for arms assistance - media
A Ukrainian delegation led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov plans to visit South Korea "as early as Wednesday" with a request for military assistance.
The South China Morning Post reported this, citing a source.
Thus, an anonymous source reported that the delegation will meet with South Korean colleagues on Wednesday and present a wish list, which includes anti-aircraft missiles and artillery systems.
Meanwhile, analysts expect South Korea to take a cautious stance on this request after Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election and russia's repeated warnings against such actions.
It is indicated that a representative of the South Korean Ministry of Defense declined to comment to the publication.
Recall that on October 25, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced the possible supply of South Korean weapons to Ukraine amid news of the arrival of North Korean servicemen in russia to participate in the war on the side of moscow.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 29, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with the President of South Korea, during which they discussed the involvement by the aggressor country russia of the North Korean military.
The parties agreed, in particular, to strengthen the exchange of intelligence and expertise, to intensify contacts at all levels, including the highest, in order to develop an action strategy and a list of countermeasures in response to the escalation, and to involve joint partners in cooperation. It was indicated that within the framework of this agreement, Ukraine and the Republic of Korea will exchange delegations in the near future to coordinate actions.
At the same time, Bloomberg reported that Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. election prompted the South Korean leadership to reconsider the possibility of sending weapons to Ukraine, in the war against which North Korea (DPRK) has joined.
