HIMARS missiles, shells and UAVs. US announces new military aid package for Ukraine
The US Department of Defense announced the allocation of a new military aid package to Ukraine worth USD 275 million. It includes artillery shells, ammunition for mortars and anti-tank complexes, as well as drones.
This was reported by CNN with reference to a press release from the US Department of Defense.
The new package for Ukraine is part of the increase in military aid, which was ordered by the incumbent President Joseph Biden in late September.
The US Department of Defense noted that this is the seventieth tranche of military equipment provided to Ukraine since August 2021.
The new military aid package from the US includes:
- ammunition for high mobility artillery rocket systems M142 HIMARS;
- artillery ammunition;
- mortar shells;
- drones;
- anti-tank complexes;
- ammunition for TOW anti-tank missile complexes;
- small arms and ammunition for them;
- equipment for demolition of buildings;
- chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear protection.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, today, November 20, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, announced that the United States will transfer anti-personnel mines to Ukraine for the first time.
As we will recall, on November 17, the American newspaper The New York Times wrote that the incumbent US President Biden allowed Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike the territory of russia.
And earlier this month, Biden allowed US defense contractors to work in Ukraine. This concerns the maintenance and repair of Western equipment used by the Ukrainian army.
