Tower crane with person inside fell on construction site near Kyiv
A tower crane fell at the construction of a multi-story building, resulting in the death of a 31-year-old crane operator. The event happened in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka.
The Main Directorate of the Police in the Kyiv Region stated this in a message on Monday, November 18.
The message about the fall of the tower crane was received today by the Bucha police department. It turned out that a person was killed in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka on the territory of the construction site.
"Preliminarily, the law enforcement officers established that a tower crane had fallen at the construction of a multi-story building. Unfortunately, the 31-year-old crane operator died from the injuries he received as a result of the fall before the arrival of the medics," the report says.
Currently, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances and causes of the tragedy. Investigators have started a pre-trial investigation into the violation of safety rules during the performance of work with increased danger, which caused the death of people.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2021, a tower crane collapsed at a construction site in Chernivtsi, in which a crane operator was at the time of the incident.
In 2018, a wheeled crane fell during the construction of a residential complex in Lviv. Fortunately, there were no victims.
In addition, in the Ivano-Frankivsk Region, a construction crane fell on a car with people, two people were killed.
