War in Ukraine may end "in coming months" - Trudeau

Canada is committed to Ukraine's victory over the russian aggressor and wants the war to end as soon as possible. Perhaps this will happen in the coming months, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said. His words are quoted by the Bloomberg agency on Sunday, November 17.

Trudeau noted that Canada and its allies are working closely with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but backed German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to speak directly with russian dictator vladimir putin. The Prime Minister emphasized that ending the war will require some interaction with the russian president, so he believes it is right to have an open line of communication with putin.

"Canada is committed Ukraine’s victory, and wants to see an end to the conflict as quickly as possible. There are perhaps windows in which that might be able to happen in the coming months," Trudeau said.

But ending the conflict on Ukraine's terms will require U.S. support, since, according to Trudeau, "all the allies in the world" will not be able to replace U.S. aid to Ukraine if it ends.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 17, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that telephone diplomacy with russian dictator vladimir putin is not working.

Recall that on November 15, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with russian dictator vladimir putin.
