MP Odarchenko, sentenced in absentia to 8 years in prison, asks for asylum in Romania
The member of the Verkhovna Rada, who yesterday was sentenced by the High Anti-Corruption Court to 8 years of imprisonment in absentia for bribing Mustafa Nayyem, asked for political asylum in Romania.
Ukraine's anti-corruption authorities informed Ukrainian News Agency about this.
"He was in Romania and asked for political asylum there," said a representative of the investigation.
Odarchenko fled abroad illegally, that is, he left without a foreign passport, outside the checkpoints.
According to the court verdict, 4 land plots, a non-residential building, two apartments in Kharkiv, a residential building in Mala Danylovka near Kharkiv, a residential building in Kharkiv and a non-residential building of 625 square meters were confiscated from Odarchenko
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced Verkhovna Rada member Andrii Odarchenko in absentia for bribing Mustafa Nayyem, sentencing him to 8 years in prison. The fugitive MP stated that Nayyem forced him to pay a bribe. The High Anti-Corruption Court arrested the fugitive MP Odarchenko in absentia and collected the UAH 15 million bail deposited for him in the budget.
