Elon Musk, who promised to draw money among Trump voters, summoned to court

American businessman and billionaire Elon Musk was summoned to court in the case of handing out money to American voters. The billionaire promised to raffle a million dollars every day from his organization America PAC.

It was reported by Reuters.

The judge ordered Musk to appear at a hearing in Philadelphia on October 31.

Recall that Musk promised that he would raffle USD 1 million every day among voters who signed the petition of his organization America PAC.

This organization collects membership fees for the election campaign. It is not directly affiliated with a candidate's headquarters, but the law allows it to raise unlimited amounts in support of a candidate or against his opponent. The organization America PAC, which was created by Musk, collects money for Donald Trump.

Signatories to the America PAC petition state their support for the First and Second Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, i.e. the rights to free speech and firearms. Musk himself offered voters to "make money by supporting what you already believe in." To enter the money draw, you must sign the petition, register to vote, and provide America PAC with your contact information.

Musk's initiative was criticized because in the U.S. it is illegal to pay people to encourage them to go to the polls. It is forbidden to pay them money directly, distribute food, alcohol or organize lotteries.

The U.S. Department of Justice warned America PAC that this contest might be illegal, but the organization continued to award money every day anyway.
