Zelenskyy denies UN Secretary General Guterres visit to Ukraine because of his participation in BRICS summit
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has refused UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres a visit to Ukraine. The reason was the participation of the UN Secretary General in the BRICS summit, which took place the day before in Kazan, russia.
The French agency AFP reported this with reference to an unnamed official from the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The interlocutor of the agency said that after the BRICS summit, the UN Secretary General wanted to come to Ukraine. Zelenskyy refused to confirm his visit.
"That's why Guterres will not be here, in particular, because of the humiliation of common sense and international law in Kazan," the agency quoted the interlocutor as saying.
He added that the UN Secretary General's participation in russia's biggest diplomatic event since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine "caused anger in Kyiv."
Recall that on October 24, President Zelenskyy commented on Guterres' visit to the russian federation to participate in the BRICS summit. He expressed regret that there are still officials in the UN who prefer "temptations in Kazan" to the organization's charter.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, after bowing to the russian dictator vladimir putin, the UN Secretary General warmly embraced the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko.
