Amount of cash in circulation ups 4.2% to UAH 796.5 billion since year start

As of October 1, 2024, there were UAH 796.5 billion in cash circulation in Ukraine.

This is evidenced by National Banks of Ukraine (NBU) data, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

This is UAH 32.1 billion or 4.2% more than at the beginning of 2024 (as of January 1, 2024 - UAH 764.4 billion).

At the same time, it is UAH 4.4 billion or 0.5% less than according to the results of the II quarter of this year (as of July 1, 2024 - UAH 800.9 billion), which is explained by seasonal factors.

There were 2.6 billion banknotes worth UAH 788.7 billion in cash circulation, as well as 14.8 billion coins (excluding commemorative and investment coins) worth UAH 7.6 billion.

On October 1 of this year, one resident of Ukraine had: 63 banknotes and 184 payment exchange and circulation coins (on January 1, 2024 - 66 and 177, respectively).

Banknotes with a denomination of UAH 500 and coins with a denomination of 10 kopecks were the most in circulation (27.3% and 27.9% of the total amount in circulation, respectively).

The least in cash circulation are banknotes with a denomination of UAH 50, and coins with a denomination of UAH 10 (4.5% and 1.7% of the total amount in circulation, respectively).

The dynamics of the volume of banknotes and coins in circulation shows that the highest growth rate since the beginning of 2024 was for banknotes with a denomination of UAH 1,000 and coins with a denomination of UAH 10.

Their number in circulation increased by 33% and 24%, respectively, compared to the beginning of this year.

The number of UAH 200 banknotes in circulation decreased the most.

They are currently 17.6% less than at the beginning of 2024.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, for 2023, the amount of cash in circulation in Ukraine increased by 6.7%, or by UAH 48.3 billion, and as of January 1, 2024, amounted to UAH 764.4 billion.
